2024 Topps Update #US32
Cristopher Sanchez emerged as an All-Star starting pitcher in 2024, compiling an 11-9 record with a 3.32 ERA in 31 starts.  Sanchez threw two complete games, including a shutout, leading the league.  The Phillies clearly expect good things from Sanchez, as they locked him up with a four-year, $22.5 million contract extension in June, taking him through the 2028 season, with team options for 2029 and 2030.  Two days after signing his big deal, Sanchez threw his shutout.  In his All-Star Game debut, he threw two pitches and induced two groundouts against the American League All-Stars.  Sanchez pitched well in his lone postseason appearance, allowing a pair of runs in NLDS Game 2.

2024 Chachi #16 Ranger Suarez

#55 / Ranger Jose Suarez / Starting Pitcher
Bats:  Left  Throws:  Left  Height:  6'1"  Weight:  217
Opening Day Age:  28
Born:  August 26, 1995, Piedecuesta, Venezuela

Contract Status:  Free agent, 2026
Major League Teams:  Philadelphia Phillies 2018-24
Postseason Appearances:  Philadelphia Phillies 2022-24

2024 Topps Living Set #743
Ranger Suarez had two very different seasons in 2024, before and after a back ailment and other nagging injuries.  Through his first 10 starts, Suarez was 9-0 with a 1.36 ERA, holding batters to a .174 average and striking out 68 over 66 innings pitched.  He seemed well on his way to possible Cy Young contention.  Through the rest of the season, Suarez was 3-8 in 17 starts with a 5.10 ERA with batters hitting a robust .290 off him.  Suarez made the All-Star team on the strength of his first 10 starts, but didn't attend the game due to injury.  He pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in NLDS Game 4 against the Mets, but a complete lack of offense from the Phillies cost them the game and the season.

2024 Topps Now Road to
Opening Day Bonus #ODB9
Aaron Nola tested free agency for about two weeks last November, before re-signing with the Phillies for $172 million over seven years.  He'll likely finish his career with the Phillies, spending the next six seasons climbing up the franchise's leaderboard in many of the major pitching categories.  Nola just missed the 200-inning plateau in 2024, pitching 199 1/3 innings in 33 starts.  He was 14-8 overall with a 3.57 ERA and 197 strikeouts, second on the club to Zack Wheeler.  Nola threw a complete game shutout on May 14th, the fourth of his career.  Unfortunately, he struggled in his lone postseason start, giving up a pair of Mets home runs in a 7-2, NLDS Game 3 loss.
