I wanted to take one last look at the offseason additions and departures before we get too far into the regular season.  As can be expected when a team loses 99 games, there were a ton of personnel moves between the final out in October and opening day in Cincinnati.

I also wanted to post the remaining Chachi Departures cards of the 2015 Phillies players who are no longer with the organization, some of whom have yet to latch on with a new club.

2015 Choice Lehigh Valley IronPigs #25 Seth Rosin

Cardinals 10, Phillies 1
Game 70 - Saturday Night, June 20th in Philadelphia
Record - 23-47, 5th Place, 13 1/2 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  John Lackey easily handled the Phillies bats as Aaron Harang and Seth Rosin were hit hard in this 10-1 loss to the Cardinals.

What It Means:  The best team in baseball once again punished the worst team in baseball.

What Happened:  The only offense for the Phillies came courtesy of a solo home run in the second from Cody Asche that gave the team an early and short lead in this ballgame.  Harang gave up four runs in his six innings of work, including a three-run home run to Randal Grichuk in the sixth.

Featured Card:  Rosin's Phillies debut didn't go so well.  In two innings of work, the reliever allowed five runs on seven hits.  Rosin is the pitcher who made headlines last year by making the opening day rosters of both the Dodgers and the Rangers before making his way back to the Phillies.  He was originally acquired by the Phillies in the Hunter Pence deal from the Giants, along with Nate Schierholtz (currently playing in Japan) and Tommy Joseph (sidelined at Lehigh Valley with another concussion).

Transaction:  Rosin took the roster spot of Friday night's starting pitcher, Phillippe Aumont, who was designated for assignment.

Nesseth and Rosin Added to Non-Roster Invitees

2014 Grandstand Reading Fightin Phils #24
2014 Choice Lehigh Valley IronPigs #20
I thought I had posted the list of 2015 spring training non-roster invitees for the final time, but then earlier this afternoon the Phillies announced two more additions to the list.  Right-handed pitchers Mike Nesseth and Seth Rosin were both added, bringing the headcount in camp to an even 60.

Rosin made the news last year when made the opening day rosters of both the Dodgers and the Rangers before making his way back to the Phillies.  It was the first time in history a player made two opening day rosters.

Nesseth split last season between the Double-A Fightin Phils and the Triple-A IronPigs.

Munson Added in Rule 5 Draft

2014 Chachi Transactions #11
The annual Winter Meetings wrapped up yesterday morning with the annual Rule 5 draft.  Players with enough service time not on a team's 40-man roster are eligible for the draft.  Once selected, the player has to remain on the active roster of the team that drafted him for the entire season, or be offered back to his original team.

More years than not, the Phillies use their pick to gamble on a player in the hopes that he'll work out and contribute to the team long-term.  The most successful Rule 5 picks in the past for the Phillies were easily Dave Hollins in 1989 and Shane Victorino in 2004.

This year, the Phillies selected right-handed pitcher Kevin Munson from the Arizona Diamondbacks.  If they don't keep Munson on the active roster all season, the Diamondbacks will be given the chance to take him back.  Munson, who will be 25 in January, split 2013 between Double-A and Triple-A where he went 2-4 with a 4.12 ERA in 53 games.  He also successfully saved 14 games.  He's appeared in various Diamondbacks minor league team sets as well as the 2010 Donruss Elite Extra Edition set.

2013 Topps Pro Debut #203
The Phillies also lost a player in the draft.  Right-handed pitcher Seth Rosin was selected by the Mets and then immediately traded to the Dodgers.  Back in July 2012, Rosin was the third guy acquired from the Giants in the Hunter Pence deal, with Nate Schierholtz (now with the Cubs) and Tommy Joseph (recently added to the Phillies 40-man roster.)  He appeared in both Reading Fightin Phils team sets this year, as well as the Topps Pro Debut set.

Here's the complete list of players gained and lost since 2000 by the Phillies:

Players Selected Since 2000
2004 - Shane Victorino - of (Los Angeles Dodgers) - Helped Phillies win World Series title in 2008.
