Rockies 11, Phillies 2
Game 87 - Late Thursday Night, July 7th in Denver
Record - 40-47, 4th place, 11 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Making a spot start, Adam Morgan suffered another rough outing as the Rockies destroyed the Phillies, 11-2.
What It Means: The four game win streak is over and Morgan was immediately optioned to Lehigh Valley following the game. He had been filling in for Aaron Nola who is taking the rest of the first half off.
What Happened: Morgan saw his ERA increase to 6.65 when he allowed six runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Rockies rookie Trevor Story hit two home runs off him. Edubray Ramos also got hit hard, allowing five runs on four hits in just 1/3 of an inning.
Featured Card: My wife was kind enough to stop at Target for me this afternoon, and I pulled this gold parallel Ryan Howard card from a blaster box of Stadium Club she purchased for me. Howard knocked in both Phillies runs in this game, and his second inning solo home run was the 369th of his career. That ties him for 78th place on the all-time list with Ralph Kiner and Todd Helton.
Transaction: With Morgan headed back to the IronPigs, his roster spot was taken by Andrew Bailey who was activated from the disabled list.
