It was Stubbs' first career start in left, and he did a decent job. He also collected the only hit of the day from a punchless Phillies line-up that struck out 10 times. Andrew Painter was in continuous trouble, and he'd end up pitching five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits. Meyer baffled the Phillies line-up, and the Phillies managed just two baserunners the entire game.
