Phillies 6, Pirates 2
Game 146 - Wednesday Night, September 14th in Philadelphia
Record - 65-81, 4th place, 22 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Freddy Galvis and Tommy Joseph homered in this 6-2 win, supporting a strong start from Jake Thompson.
What It Means: Joseph has 19 home runs this seasons, which is even more impressive when you consider he wasn't called up from the minors until mid-May. That total is the third most by a Phillies rookie since 1971, with only Ryan Howard (22) and Scott Rolen (21) hitting more. (Source: Todd Zolecki on Twitter.)
What Happened: Galvis continued his surprising power surge with his 19th home run. Thompson pitched six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Roman Quinn had two more hits and threw out a runner at home in the ninth inning.
Featured Card: The Topps Heritage High Numbers checklist was recently released and I was happy to see that Joseph will have a card in the set. I have only two 2016 baseball cards of his in my collection so far - this card from the IronPigs team set and his photo card from the team issued, series two update set. His IronPigs card uses the same photo as his card found within their 2015 team set.
As discussed in this post, I'm taking a poll on how collectors track baseball card collections.
Please vote in the poll on the sidebar if you haven't already. Thanks!
