Mets 5, Phillies 3
Game 91 - Friday Night, July 15th in Philadelphia
Record - 42-49, 4th place, 13 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies opened the second half of the season with a 5-3 loss to the Mets.
What It Means: Before the game, manager Pete Mackanin stated that his goal for the team was a N.L. Wild Card spot. This loss put the Phils seven games behind the Dodgers, Marlins and Mets who are all currently vying for two Wild Card spots.
What Happened: Other than a three-run sixth inning, which included an RBI triple from Peter Bourjos and an RBI single from Cody Asche, the offense was quiet. Jeremy Hellickson allowed four runs in his six innings of work.
Featured Card: Hellickson and Bourjos both admit that they fully expect to be traded to contending teams before the end of July. This recently released Stadium Club card could be Hellickson's last as a member of the Phillies. Meanwhile, Bourjos has only appeared in the two team-issued photo card sets and he's still waiting for his first mainstream Phillies baseball card.
