Phillies 8, Astros 4
Spring Training Game 28 - Wednesday Afternoon, March 30th in Clearwater
Record - 15-10-3
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies stunned the Astros with an eight-run eighth inning to win their final Florida spring training game, 8-4.
What It Means: The Phillies will play three more exhibition games up north before opening the regular season on Monday afternoon in Cincinnati. Top prospects from throughout the entire Phillies organization will take on the big club on Thursday night in Reading and on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. In between those games, the Orioles will visit Citizens Bank Park on Friday night.
What Happened: Andres Blanco's grand slam was the big blow in the eighth. But the play that everyone was talking about was the Phillies' third successfully executed suicide squeeze by Cesar Hernandez to score Will Venable. It appears as if small ball and the running game will be heavily relied upon by the 2016 Phillies.
Featured Card: Play ball! I'm at a loss to come up with any meaningful card connected to this game, so let's just go with Odubel Herrera's Opening Day card. I'm ready to go.
Camp Head Count: 36
