Yankees at Phillies
Rained Out - Tuesday Afternoon, March 29th in Clearwater
Record - 14-10-3
What It Means: Brett Oberholtzer is probably fine with this game being washed out. When the rain started falling after the fourth inning, Oberholtzer had already allowed seven runs.
Camp Head Count: 39 - 3 = 36 - The biggest roster move of the day was the release of Edward Mujica. The veteran pitcher had an out clause in his minor league deal that gave him the right to be released (within 48 hours) if he wasn't added to the team's opening day roster by Sunday. He pitched well this spring (2.16 ERA , 7 games, 8 1/3 innings, 7 strikeouts) but the Phillies apparently like their other bullpen options better. It would appear as if the final two bullpen spots will be claimed by two of these four ptichers: Andrew Bailey, Ernesto Frieri, Hector Neris and James Russell. Neris could be the odd man out as he still has a minor league option remaining.
Outfielder David Lough and infielder Ryan Jackson were also reassigned to minor league camp.
Featured Card: I'm going to hold off on posting Mujica's Chachi Almost card at this point, as there's a small chance he could resign with the Phillies and end up back with the club at some point this season. Instead, here's his card from Topps Series One.
And if you're curious . . . I've added a preliminary 2016 Chachi checklist here.
