Giants 8, Phillies 5
Late Saturday Night, July 11th in San Francisco
Record - 29-61, 5th Place, 20 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies couldn't hang on to a 4-1 lead and the Giants pounded the bullpen in an eventual 8-5 win.
What It Means: Did I mention we had a blast at the BlueClaws game on Saturday night?
What Happened: David Buchanan made his first big league start since April 30th, and he pitched fairly well through five innings. He was curiously pulled after five innings (and 72 pitches) in favor of the Phillies' suspect bullpen. Jake Diekman (2 runs in 1/3 inning), Luis Garcia (3 runs in 2/3 innings) and Elvis Araujo (2 runs in 1/3 inning) allowed the Giants to take the lead and win the ballgame.
Featured Card: Ryan Howard and Cody Asche homered in the sixth inning, with Asche's home run being the first ever by a Phillies batter to land in McCovey Cove.
