Pirates 18, Phillies 4
Spring Training Game 28 - Monday Afternoon, March 30th in Bradenton
Record - 11-15-2
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies were absolutely embarrassed in a lopsided loss to the Pirates, 18-4.
What It Means: The pitching has looked bad over the past week and the offense has looked even worse. With just a week to go to the start of the regular season, the Phillies are struggling mightily.
What Happened: Kevin Slowey and Sean O'Sullivan took the brunt of the damage, each allowing six runs. Benches cleared in the fourth when Slowey apparently quick-pitched Pirates second baseman Sean Rodriguez. Zach Eflin, acquired from the Dodgers in the Jimmy Rollins trade, got the spot start and allowed four runs (only one earned) on three hits in his three innings of work.
Featured Card: This card just doesn't look right does it? I don't have any cards for Eflin, so I thought I'd show Rollins' first baseball card in Dodgers blue. My oldest son has been busy sorting his new Opening Day cards over the past few nights, and I should have his want list posted soon.
