Phillies 4, Tigers 4
Spring Training Game 27 - Sunday Afternoon, March 29th in Clearwater
Record - 11-14-2
One Sentence Summary: Chase Utley homered twice in a game that would end in a draw with the Tigers.
What It Means: Utley's home runs were bombs and he's now hitting .423 for the spring.
What Happened: Russ Canzler, who has emerged as a possible bench candidate, also hit a home run. Aaron Harang struck out five in his 5 1/3 innings of work while allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits.
Featured Card: I recently picked up some of the Phillies cards to be found within the 2015 Donruss set, which is a mash-up of the 1985 and 1987 Donruss sets but without the cool black borders. In my opinion, the best part of the new Donruss set are the short-printed cards made to look like the original 1981 Donruss cards.
Camp Head Count: 42 - 6 = 36. Prior to the game, the Phillies informed six players they'd begin the season toiling for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez heads the list, and his extremely disappointing spring means the team will need to look elsewhere for a fifth starter to begin the season. Reliever Hector Neris was also optioned while non-roster invitees Paul Clemens, Koyie Hill, Chris McGuiness and Chris Nelson were reassigned.
