2011 Bowman Sterling #20 Larry Greene

Phillies 1, Orioles 0
Spring Training Game 7 - Monday Afternoon, March 9th in Sarasota
Record - 3-3-1

One Sentence Summary:  Aaron Harang and five other pitchers combined to shut out the Orioles in a 1-0 Phillies victory.

What It Means:  Harang looked shaky in his first Phillies outing, allowing three hits and two walks but getting out of trouble in the second and third innings.

What Happened:  Andres Blanco provided the only run of the game with a solo home run in the fifth.

Featured Card:  It's probably not that surprising, considering he hit just .224 in his three seasons with the Phillies organization, but Larry Greene, Jr., the team's first draft pick in the 2011 draft, has apparently retired.  Greene has been a no-show in Clearwater and all indications point to the 22-year-old leaving behind his baseball career.

Greene was one of a handful of Lakewood BlueClaws players who signed cards for my son Doug two years ago.  Along with his Phillies minor league cards issued between 2012 and 2014, I also have a few of Greene's cards from the various 2011 Bowman releases in my Phillies collection.  The Bowman Sterling card shown here did a decent job of Photoshopping a Phillies uniform onto Greene.  We certainly wish him well in all his future endeavors.
