2013 Choice Lehigh Valley IronPigs Update #7 Freddy Galvis

Phillies 6, Braves 5
Game 142 - Saturday Night, September 7th in Philadelphia
Record - 65-77, 3rd Place, 20 1/2 games behind the Braves

One Sentence Summary:  Freddy Galvis hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth, negating the bad vibes caused by Jonathan Papelbon's seventh blown save of the year.

What It Means:  It means it's nice to see the team showing some life as the season winds down.  It also means the Papelbon continued to cement his spot as the team's most unpopular player with the Phillies fanbase.

What Went Right:  Galvis enjoyed a four-hit game, capped by his big home run.  Carlos Ruiz also had a big night at the plate with three RBIs and two more hits to raise his season average to .280.

Featured Card:  Through this game, Galvis has appeared in 115 games for the Phillies beginning with Opening Day last year.  Yet, as far as I can tell, his last and only Topps base card came in the 2011 Topps Pro Debut set.  Galvis had two Phillies cards in both 2012 and 2013, and all four are from the team issued postcard sets.

So in what is turning into the Choice Lehigh Valley IronPigs Update Team Set Appreciation Week at The Phillies Room, here's Galvis' sole minor league card for 2013.

That win also means that the Red Sox have the best record in baseball!

I keep forgetting he has a card in that set. I've largely ignored the non-MLB licensed sets up until now, but I guess I shouldn't if they're going to include players that Topps excludes.
