Phillies 6, Braves 3
Game 120 - Wednesday Night, August 14th in Atlanta
Record - 53-67, 4th Place, 20 1/2 games behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: The Braves dealt another loss to the hapless Phillies as John Lannan most likely pitched in his final game for the team.
What It Means: I'm getting tired of reading about the Phillies atrocious won-loss record since the All-Star Break, but it's definitely safe to say the team is now in free-fall mode. They'll open a three-game series agains the white hot Dodgers tomorrow night. Avert your eyes and make alternate weekend plans if you're able.
What Went Wrong: Lannan lasted just 1 1/3 innings before having to leave the game with a knee injury. His season, and his Phillies career, are most likely over. Before he departed, Lannan allowed five runs on four hits while walking three.
On the bright side, Domonic Brown hit his 27th home run and Darin Ruf hit his 7th.
Featured Card: On the bright side, part two, Roy Halladay pitched in his first rehab start this afternoon. Facing mostly teenagers, Halladay pitched six innings, allowing three runs on six hits for the Gulf Coast League Phillies. He'll most likely pitch again on Tuesday in another minor league rehab start.
