This is another Tommy's Collectibles $5 purchase from December 1994. I bought a ton of Phillies cards while I lived in North Carolina. Phillies cards in New Jersey are usually sold at a small premium, while dealers in North Carolina in the early '90s couldn't wait to unload anyone who wasn't an Atlanta Brave.Herm came up with the Reds in 1945, and he played with the Phils from June 1954 until May 1956. On May 11, 1956, Herm was traded with Murry Dickson to the St. Louis Cardinals for Harvey Haddix, Ben Flowers and Stu Miller. According to Baseball Almanac.com, Herm last wore #45 for the Reds in 1948. However, he's pictured here wearing #45. It's a mystery . . .
