1956 Topps #72 Phillies Team

In the 8 team National League, the 1956 Phillies finished the season in 5th place with a record of 71-83. Future Hall of Famers Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts were the stars of the team. The back of this card lists the Phillies' 1915 and 1950 seasons as the only pennant winning seasons to date. Unfortunately, the Phils would not capture another N.L. pennant until 1980.

In the late '80s, a small little baseball card store opened in Sea Isle City - I believe around 45th or 46th Street. We purchased this card there in July 1989 for $14. I remember spending hours in the store meticulously searching through huge boxes in search of 1973 Topps cards I needed.
