Phillies 5, Braves 1
Game 3 - Sunday Night, March 31st in Philadelphia
Record - 3-0, 1st place, 1 game ahead of the Mets
One Sentence Summary: Bryce Harper homered again, leading the Phillies to a 5-1 win over the Braves.
What It Means: The Phillies swept the Braves, giving them sole possession of first place and leaving them as the only remaining undefeated team in baseball. As this game was televised on ESPN, we electing to mute the TV and listen to Scott Franzke and Larry Andersen call the game on the radio.
What Happened: Jake Arrieta labored through the early innings, but recovered to ultimately pitch 6 innings, allowing a run on 3 hits and 6 walks. He also struck out 6. Andrew McCutchen and Harper both hit their second home runs of the season. With the score tied at 1-1 in the 5th, the Phillies took the lead when Rhys Hoskins walked with the bases loaded. Hoskins was later drilled following Harper's home run, leading to the ejection of Braves pitcher Shane Carle.
