Brewers 12, Phillies 3
Game 62 - Saturday Afternoon, June 9th in Philadelphia
Record - 32-30, 3rd place, 4 games behind the Braves and Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Jake Arrieta and the bullpen struggled again in 12-3 loss to the Brewers, the second game in a row in which the pitching staff surrendered 12 runs.
What It Means: It's not going well.
What Happened: The Phils held a brief lead in this game following a 3-run home run (7) from the re-activated Rhys Hoskins in the 3rd.
Luis Garcia entered the game with 1 out in the 6th and the bases loaded and allowed a pinch-hit grand slam to Ji-Man Choi. Garcia had relieved Arrieta who finished with a line of 5 1/3 innings and 5 runs (4 earned) on 4 hits, 3 walks and 2 hit batters. Reliever Adam Morgan allowed 4 more runs in a 1/3 of an inning.
Featured Card: The 1993 Phillies team was celebrated all weekend long and Danny Jackson was on hand to throw out the first pitch before this ballgame. With the exception of the Hoskins home run, it was all downhill from there.
Transaction: Hoskins was activated from the disabled list and he's now wearing a double-flapped helmet covering both sides of his recently broken jaw. Dylan Cozens took his place on the DL with a left quad strain.
