Mets 3, Phillies 1
Game 38 - Friday Night, May 11th in Philadelphia
Record - 22-16, 2nd place, 1/2 game behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: Hector Neris blew it.
What It Means: With the Braves also losing, the Phillies could have claimed first place for themselves, but Neris was unable to shut down the Mets in the ninth.
What Happened: Jake Arrieta allowed five hits in his 7 1/3 innings, and Tommy Hunter recorded the final two outs of the eighth. For the second time this week, Neris couldn't close the door, allowing back-to-back home runs to Michael Conforto and Devin Mesoraco. The sole Phillies run came on an Odubel Herrera solo home run (6) in the first.
Featured Card: Sending some 2008 Brad Lidge vibes towards Neris' general direction.
