Phillies 2, Red Sox 1
Spring Training Game 13 - Wednesday Afternoon, March 7th in Clearwater
Record - 5-8
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Nola threw four nearly flawless scoreless innings as the Phils hung on to beat the Red Sox, 2-1.
What It Means: We watched this game on TV thanks to the winter storm that pounded our area on Wednesday afternoon.
What Happened: There weren't many regular starters in the Sox line-up, but it was still nice to see Nola easily handle the batters. He struck out five and allowed one hit in his four innings of work. In the seventh, Nick Williams scored the eventual winning run from second when an infield pop-up dropped in front of the pitcher.
Drew Hutchison threw three innings, striking out four and allowing a run.
Featured Card: In our recent Topps Heritage box opening fun, our oldest son Doug was the recipient of a Topps Heritage "hot box," resulting in a nice stack of these purple Chrome cards. Apparently the official name of this set is "Hot Box Refractor," although I prefer "Purple Chrome."
