Phillies 5, Braves 2
Game 110 - Tuesday Night, August 8th in Atlanta
Record - 41-69, 5th place, 24 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Zach Eflin pitched seven solid innings in this 5-2 win over the Braves.
What It Means: This was Eflin's first start in the majors since May and he's probably earned another turn in the rotation with his performance. He allowed two runs on seven hits in his seven innings of work. Eflin also contributed an RBI-single in the fourth.
What Happened: The hot-hitting Odubel Herrera had three hits, including a two-run home run (12) in the fifth.
Featured Card: This is the sole 2017 Eflin baseball card in my collection, and it's from the annual Phillies Phestival, held this year in early May. The card is in the style of the team-issued photo card set but it has a blank back.
Transaction: Eflin took Jake Thompson's (and Jeremy Hellickson's) spot in the rotation, recalled from Lehigh Valley prior to this game. Andrew Knapp was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised right hand.
