Rockies 4, Phillies 3
Game 107 - Friday Night, August 4th in Denver
Record - 39-68, 5th place, 25 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: For the second night in a row, Luis Garcia allowed the eventual winning run to score in the eighth inning, as the Rockies won, 4-3.
What It Means: After a modest five-game winning streak, the Phillies are now in danger of erasing that as they're mired in a four-game losing streak.
What Happened: Nick Williams continued to swing a hot bat, going 3 for 4 with an RBI-double.
Featured Card: The big club has me frustrated again, so let's celebrate the recent promotion of pitching prospect Sixto Sanchez to High-A Clearwater. In 13 starts with the Lakewood BlueClaws, Sanchez pitched to a 2.41 ERA while striking out 64 and walking just nine over 67 1/3 innings. He allowed one sole home run over that span as well.
This is the only Sanchez baseball card in my collection so far, from the Top 30 Prospects set issued by the Reading Fightin Phils in April.
Transactions: With Andrew Knapp nursing a bruised hand and the Phillies in need of bullpen arms for the Rockies series, infielder Ty Kelly and starting pitcher Jake Thompson were optioned to the IronPigs while catcher Jorge Alfaro and reliever Ricardo Pinto were recalled.
