Phillies 5, Cardinals 1
Game 71 - Thursday Afternoon, June 22nd in Philadelphia
Record - 23-48, 5th place, 19 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Nola pitched a gem as the Phillies escaped town with a 5-1 win over the Cardinals.
What It Means: It won't get any easier as the Phillies will open a four-game series against the Diamondbacks in Phoenix on Friday night.
What Happened: Nola won his fourth game, pitching into the eighth inning and allowing a run on four hits. Tommy Joseph had three RBIs, including a solo home run (11) in the fifth inning. Freddy Galvis also homered (7) for the Phils.
Featured Card: I have a whole mess of new Nola cards, so it's nice to start showing them off here. Topps has really enjoyed using its 1987 design in recent insert sets, and they're back again this year with a now 200-card set of today's stars on the 1987 Topps design.
