Phillies 6, Nationals 5 (10)
Game 30 - Sunday Afternoon, May 7th in Philadelphia
Record - 13-17, Tied for 3rd place, 7 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Altherr clubbed a clutch, three-run pinch home run in the eighth for the tie and Freddy Galvis hit a sac fly in the 10th for the win as the Phillies salvaged the series against the Nationals.
What It Means: There's a day off today and then a quick, two-game series with the Mariners beginning on Tuesday night.
What Happened: Jeremy Hellickson suffered his second straight tough start, getting pulled in the fifth inning having allowed three runs on five hits. Trailing by three, Altherr delivered his blast to give the Phils life. Before his winning sacrifice fly, Galvis got the Phillies on the board with a two-run double in the fourth.
Jayson Werth continued to punish his former team, going 4 for 5 with two home runs in the losing effort.
Featured Card: I took a family vote, and there was a unanimous decision for Altherr to receive the featured card over Galvis. This is one of the few early Altherr cards I've not yet featured on the blog, from the 2011 Lakewood BlueClaws team set.
