Orioles 6, Phillies 4
Spring Training Game 18 - Monday Afternoon, March 13th in Sarasota
Record - 8-8-2
One Sentence Summary: Jeremy Hellickson was roughed up in his four innings of work and the offense came up short in a 6-4 loss to the Orioles.
What It Means: Not a whole heck of a lot.
What Happened: Nick Williams (1) hit a solo home run in top of the eighth and made an impressive leaping grab to rob Logan Schafer of a home run in the bottom of the eighth. Williams is destined to start the season with the IronPigs, but he's impressed with his defense and offense (.362 - 8 for 22) this spring. The red hot Brock Stassi hit his fourth home run.
Hellickson allowed five runs on four hits while striking out six.
Featured Card: I'm looking forward to watching Williams play at Citizens Bank Park someday soon. Here's a Bowman card of his from last season, one of his first official Phillies baseball cards.
Camp Head Count: 59 - 5 = 54. Outfielder Dylan Cozens along with pitchers Drew Anderson, Elniery Garcia and Alberto Tirado were optioned to the minors before this game. Cozens will start the season in Lehigh Valley, Anderson and Garcia are heading to Reading and Tirado will stay in Clearwater with the club's High-A team. Victor Arano, was hasn't pitched due to an arm injury, was reassigned to minor league camp.
