1970 Topps #564
1970 Topps Appreciation:  As we wrap up the 2016 season, I need to find places to feature 1970
Phillies cards of players who had no logical connection to the Phillies' opponents throughout the year. Johnny Briggs, who spent his entire 12-year career with the Phillies, Brewers and Twins is one such player.  I had this to say about Briggs a few years ago before a Brewers series:
Johnny Briggs spent the first eight years of his career with the Phillies before being traded to the Brewers in April 1971 for Pete Koegel and Ray Peters.  His best season may have been 1972 when he hit 21 home runs and drove in 65.  Briggs appears as a Phillie within Topps sets from 1965 to 1971.

Jim,

The Miami Marlins were a Class-A team for the Phillies in the early 1960s. Jeff James pitched for them in 1962, and Joe Lis played for them in 1964 & 1965. Both players have Phillies' cards in the 1970 set.

Mike Wegener pitched for Miami in 1965, and appears in the 1970 set as an Expo.
