Phillies 6, Marlins 2
Game 137 - Monday Afternoon, September 5th in Miami
Record - 61-76, 4th place, 19 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Clutch hits from Freddy Galvis and Jimmy Paredes supported Jared Eickhoff's solid start as the Phillies won over the Marlins, 6-2.
What It Means: The six-game losing streak is over and Eickhoff notched his 10th win of the season.
What Happened: Eickhoff scattered six hits over his six innings of work, allowing just two runs. Trailing 2-0, Galvis hit a two-run home run (16) in the fifth to tie up the game. Peter Bourjos had three hits and scored the go-ahead run in the fifth on an error. Paredes added a few insurance runs in the seventh with a pinch-hit, two-run single.
Featured Card: Eickhoff received a Chrome-ish card in the recently released Donruss Optic set, even though he didn't appear in the regular Donruss issue. It's refreshing to see guys like Eickhoff receive baseball cards in sets issued late this season. Nothing against Aaron Nola and Maikel Franco, but I'm getting a little tired of just seeing those two Phillies players on most of the recent baseball card checklists.
As discussed in this post, I'm taking a poll on how collectors track baseball card collections.
Please vote in the poll on the sidebar if you haven't already. Thanks!
