Braves 7, Phillies 6
Game 157 - Tuesday Night, September 27th in Atlanta
Record - 70-87, 4th place, 22 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Braves scored seven unanswered runs against a Phillies bullpen running on fumes at this point.
What It Means: "In two games now, every reliever I brought in has given up a [bleeping] run," Pete Mackanin said. "That's unheard of."
What Happened: Luis Garcia allowed the biggest blow, surrendering a three-run home run to Tyler Flowers in the sixth inning, pulling the Braves to within a run at 6-5. Joely Rodriguez and David Hernandez were on the mound in the eighth when the Braves took the lead. Darin Ruf gets an assist in the loss for misplaying a ball in left field that kicked off the Braves rally in the eighth.
The game also saw two lengthy rain delays and the possible end of the season for Roman Quinn, who left the game with an oblique injury.
Featured Card: Playing in his final week with the Phillies, Ryan Howard hit a first inning grand slam, the 15th of his career. I'm going to miss watching that home run swing.
