2016 Topps Pro Debut #3 Jake Thompson

Nationals 4Phillies 0
Game 131 - Monday Night, August 29th in Philadelphia
Record - 60-71, 4th place, 16 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  Tanner Roark and two Nationals relievers limited the struggling Phillies offense to four hits as the Nationals won, 4-0.

What It Means:  This was the best start of Jake Thompson's young Major League career.

What Happened:  Thompson had a shaky first inning, allowing two runs including a first inning home run to Jayson Werth, but then recovered to pitch six shutout innings.  He's just the second Phillies starter since July 26th (along with Jeremy Hellickson) to pitch the full seventh inning in a game.

Featured Card:  Unless he's featured in the Topps Update set, this may be the closest Thompson gets this year to having a Topps base card.

As discussed in this post, I'm taking a poll on how collectors track baseball card collections.

Please vote in the poll on the sidebar if you haven't already.  Thanks!
