Phillies 9, Braves 5
Game 106 - Saturday Night, July 30th in Atlanta
Record - 48-58, 4th place, 14 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The offense came to life and Jeremy Hellickson pitched effectively again in this 9-5 win over the Braves.
What It Means: As of this writing, Hellickson is still a member of the Phillies, despite being mentioned in numerous trade rumors over the past month. In six July starts, Hellickson put together a 2.34 ERA and he left this game early with a minor injury caused by fouling a ball off his hand.
What Happened: Jim Salisbury put it best, summing up this game as a three-hour and forty minute ugh-fest. In the four-run eighth inning, the Phillies batted around without the benefit of a hit. The sequence went BB-FC-BB-IBB-BB-E5-E6-HBP-GIDP.
Featured Card: As has been the case of a lot of Phillies wins this season, there really wasn't a stand-out star in this game. I'll go with Cameron Rupp here since the catcher went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
