2016 Topps Archives #285 Maikel Franco

Phillies 7Royals 2
Game 83 - Sunday Afternoon, July 3rd in Philadalphia
Record - 37-46, 4th place, 13 games behind the Nationals

Hawaii Catch-up - Game 9 of 9

One Sentence Summary:  Home runs from Cameron Rupp, Cody Asche and Maikel Franco along with another strong performance from Vince Velasquez led to the 7-2 victory and the series win over the Royals.

What It Means:  The Phillies won six of the nine games they played while we were on vacation in Hawaii.  This is proof that we should go to Hawaii more often.

What Happened:  Rupp got the scoring started with a three-run home run (8) in the first.  Franco had a three-hit day and drove in a pair of runs.  Velasquez won his seventh game, pitching six solid innings and striking out seven.

Featured Card:  I'm enjoying opening packs of this year's Topps Archives, and my oldest son Doug should have his set want list put together soon.  Here's Franco's card from the set, using the design of the now vintage 1991 Topps set.  Hard to believe that 1991 is now considered "vintage."

Island Report:  We listened to this game early Sunday morning as we were packing up our room at Aulani and getting ready to head to the airport.  It's tough when vacations end, but this one was particularly difficult.  Also, avoid pizza at all costs if you ever have a layover in the Los Angeles airport.  Trust me on this.

It seems that pose of Franco throwing awkwardly appears on every single one of his cards

Thanks for all the missed game recaps, as well as vacation pictures! Hopefully I'll follow that path to Aulani some day!

John - That does seem to be the case. More photos of him fielding than hitting on most of his cards.

S36 - I highly recommend it and we've already started saving for our next trip!
