Phillies 10, Rockies 3
Game 90 - Sunday Afternoon, July 10th in Denver
Record - 42-48, 4th place, 12 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Cameron Rupp and Maikel Franco led the offensive outburst against the Rockies in this 10-3 win to close out the first half of the 2016 season.
What It Means: The Phillies entered the All-Star break with 13 more wins than they had last season, which is the best improvement in the Majors. (H/T Matt Breen)
What Happened: Rupp had a career-high four RBIs, including a two-run home run (9) in the seventh. Franco hit a three-run home run (18) in the eighth. Zach Eflin tossed six strong innings for his second career win.
Featured Card: I've already featured Rupp's card from the Topps Phillies team set, and his Topps Series Two card looks exactly the same with the exception of the foil used for the Topps logo.
Transaction: Prior to this game, reliever Daniel Stumpf was activated from the restricted list where he had spent the last 80 games due to a PED suspension. Severino Gonzalez was optioned to the IronPigs and Mario Hollands was designated for assignment. Hollands last pitched for the Phillies in 2014 and missed the entire 2015 season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He had a 3.76 ERA in 26 1/3 innings for the IronPigs this season.
