Game 78 - Late Monday Night, June 27th in Phoenix
Record - 33-45, 4th place, 12 1/2 games behind the Nationals
Hawaii Catch-up - Game 4 of 9
One Sentence Summary: Vince Velasquez made his triumphant return from the disabled list and the offense exploded for six runs in the seventh inning of this 8-0 win.
What It Means: It would seem as if the offense has returned after disappearing for several weeks in June.
What Happened: Velasquez picked up the win by pitching five shutout innings and striking out seven. Edubray Ramos also threw a pair of shutout frames. Odubel Herrera had four hits, Peter Bourjos and Cesar Hernandez each had three hits and Maikel Franco drove in three runs. Bourjos is 14 for 27 (.519) through the first five games of this road trip.
Featured Card: This is Velasquez's card from the second team issued photo card set. Here's hoping he appears in some Topps products later this summer.
Island Report: We spent the bulk of this day at Pearl Harbor, touring the USS Bowfin, paying our respects at the USS Arizona memorial and touring the USS Missouri. Due to ongoing construction at the dock to the USS Arizona memorial, we weren't able to get off our boat and actually tour the memorial but it was still a very emotional visit.
The highlight for the boys was the audio tour of the USS Bowfin, and getting to sit in the control room aboard the USS Missouri.
