Phillies 7, Blue Jays 0
Game 64 - Monday Night, June 13th in Toronto
Record - 30-34, 4th place, 10 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Jared Eickhoff rediscovered his slider and the offense found some hits in an enjoyable 7-0 win over the Blue Jays.
What It Means: The win breaks a four game losing streak and came on the 19th anniversary of the first ever Interleague game, also with the Blue Jays. Wayne Gomes got the win in that 1997 match-up and Gregg Jefferies had three RBIs.
What Happened: Eickhoff was nearly unhittable, shutting out the Blue Jays over six innings and allowing just three hits. His four walks were more a result of an inconsistent strike zone by the home plate umpire. Odubel Herrera (6) and DH Ryan Howard (10) both hit solo home runs, while Peter Bourjos added a pair of RBIs.
Featured Card: This is Eickhoff's card from this season's second team-issued photo card set. Based on tips received from fellow collector Steve F., and as updated in the set's listing here, there could now be two more cards now available within this set for Tommy Joseph and Jimmy Paredes.
Transaction: After the game and as expected, Zach Eflin had his contract purchased from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and Luis Garcia was optioned back down to the IronPigs. Eflin will make his Major League debut this afternoon.
