Cubs 6, Phillies 2
Game 48 - Friday Afternoon, May 27th in Chicago
Record - 26-22, 3rd place, 2 1/2 games behind the Mets and Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Adam Morgan struggled again, done in by a four-run fourth inning, as the Cubs easily handled the Phillies, 6-2.
What It Means: Morgan allowed three home runs and his ERA is now up to 6.67. As much as I like Morgan, I'm curious how much longer the Phillies will leave him in the rotation. Righty Zach Eflin has made eight starts for the Triple-A IronPigs, and he's 5-0 with a 2.05 ERA. Alec Asher (3-0, 1.53 ERA) has also looked good for the IronPigs in his four starts.
What Happened: Morgan allowed six runs on eight hits in his four innings of work. Maikel Franco drove in both Phillies runs with a sacrifice fly in the third and an infield single in the seventh.
Featured Card: The last time the Phillies visited Chicago last July, Cole Hamels threw a no-hitter in his final start for the Phillies. I created a Chachi Highlight card to celebrate the occasion, and Topps also gave Hamels a card in their Wrigley Field Celebrates 100 Years insert set.
