Phillies 1, Cardinals 0
Game 27 - Tuesday Night, May 3rd in St. Louis
Record - 16-11, 3rd place, 2 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Aaron Nola pitched another gem, running his scoreless inning streak up to 20, and the Phillies won, 1-0.
What It Means: Somehow, the Phils are 10-2 in the last 12 games. The offense has been mostly quiet, but the bullpen has been exceptional and the starting pitching has been even better.
What Happened: Nola pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Hector Neris and Jeanmar Gomez got the job done again with Gomez notching his ninth save. Neris leads all Major League relievers with 27 strikeouts.
Ryan Howard provided the only run needed with a solo home run in the sixth inning. It was Howard's sixth home run of the season.
Featured Card: This is the newest Nola card in my collection, from the recently released Bowman set.
