1984 Donruss #503 Tony Perez

Mets 11Phillies 1
Game 15 - Tuesday Night, April 19th in Philadelphia
Record - 6-9, 3rd place, 5 games behind the Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  The Phillies were brutally demolished by the Mets in this ballgame, 11-1.

What It Means:  How many days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training in 2017?

What Happened:  Vince Velasquez, who had been nearly unhittable in his first two starts of the season, didn't make it out of the fifth inning.  He allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits.  Ryan Howard's costly error in the third led to the unearned runs.  Brett Oberholtzer (4 runs in 2 innings, 7.71 ERA) and James Russell (2 runs in 1 inning, 18.69 ERA) were also hit hard in this game.

Neil Walker had two of the six Mets home runs.  Center fielder Juan Lagares robbed Maikel Franco of a three-run home run in the eighth inning with a leaping catch to bring back a ball over the wall.

Featured Card:  Tony Perez is capturing the exact look I had on my face throughout the entirety of this ballgame.

LOL!

On 2nd thought, we may as well look ahead to next year. Phillies' management clearly isn't interested in contending until '17 or '18.
