2011 Topps Pro Debut #16 Aaron Altherr

Phillies 4Blue Jays 4
Spring Training Game 2 - Wednesday Afternoon, March 2nd in Dunedin
Record - 0-1-1

One Sentence Summary:  Aaron Altherr hit a monster home run in a game with the Blue Jays that eventually ended in a tie.

What It Means:  I enjoyed the first five innings of the MLB.com radio broadcast of this game as I was making the long drive back from Reading (for work) yesterday.  How I've missed sunshine and baseball on the radio.

What Happened:  Altherr's bomb came in the fourth inning, and Phillies radio announcer Scott Franzke was genuinely amazed at how far the blast traveled.  Peter Bourjos tripled and Andrew Knapp doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth.  The Blue Jays tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on a Reinier Roibal wild pitch.

Featured Card:  Franzke mentioned that the Phillies are cautiously optimistic about Altherr's power potential.  He should see plenty of playing time in the outfield this season, which should improve his chances of finally appearing on a Topps card.  His sole Topps-ish card to date can be found in the 2011 Topps Pro Debut set.

Camp Head Count:  66
