Braves 2, Phillies 1
Game 82 - Friday Night, July 3rd in Atlanta
Record - 27-55, 5th Place, 18 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Adam Morgan pitched a great ballgame, but two Braves solo home runs and a lack of run support led to the 2-1 Braves win.
What It Means: The season is officially more than half way over and the Phillies are in the midst of a five game losing streak.
What Happened: Morgan threw seven strong innings allowing just five hits, two of which were solo home runs to Jonny Gomes and Juan Uribe. The Phillies scored their lone run in the fifth when Cesar Hernandez singled home Morgan, who had reached on an error. Hernandez was thrown out trying to stretch his hit into a double and he would have come around to score a batter later when Maikel Franco doubled.
Featured Card: This is the sole 2015 Morgan baseball card in my collection to date, and I would think Morgan is another good candidate for inclusion in the Topps Update set and/or the third series of the Phillies team issued photo card set, which seems inevitable.
