2015 Topps '52 Tribute Gold #298 Maikel Franco

Phillies 5, Reds 4
Game 53 - Tuesday Night, June 2nd in Philadelphia
Record - 20-33

One Sentence Summary:  Late-inning clutch hits from Maikel Franco and Darin Ruf fueled the Phillies come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Reds.

What It Means:  It means the dreadful seven game losing streak is finally over.  (And I won't be posting another Braulio Castillo card for the time being.)

What Happened:  The Phillies fell behind early to the Reds and found themselves trailing by a score of 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth.  Chase Utley got them a run closer with a solo home run in the sixth that was his third hit of the night, raising his average to .209.

Ryan Howard doubled with two outs in the eighth and Franco then launched his third home run of the year off Jumbo Diaz to tie up the ballgame.  In the bottom of the ninth Odubel Herrera doubled to start the inning, went to third on Carlos Ruiz's sacrifice bunt and came in to score the winning run on Ruf's bloop single to right.

Featured Card:  Ruf's hit won it, but it was Franco's bomb of a home run to left that dramatically tied the game in the eighth inning.  Franco already has quite a few 2015 baseball cards, but this is one of my favorites from the Topps '52 Tribute Gold set, available for sale on the company's website.
