Phillies 8, Nationals 1
Game 45 - Saturday Afternoon, May 23rd in Washington
Record - 19-26, 4th Place, 7 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: Bolstered by home runs from Maikel Franco and Ryan Howard, Cole Hamels easily took care of the Nationals in a 8-1 Phillies victory.
What It Means: The Phils will go for the series win this afternoon.
What Happened: Hamels was fantastic through eight innings, allowing a run on five hits. Howard had another big day at the plate, going 3 for 5 and scoring twice. Ben Revere had a pair of hits and scored three times.
Featured Card: It's been fun watching Hamels increase his trade value over the past few months, and sadly I have a feeling this will be his final Phillies card in a Topps flagship set. The real tragedy here is that we might not ever get a Phillies baseball card featuring Hamels' fantastic 2015 beard.
