Cardinals 9, Phillies 3
Game 23 - Thursday Afternoon, April 30th in St. Louis
Record - 8-15
One Sentence Summary: The Cardinals made it look easy in a lopsided 9-3 win over the Phillies.
What It Means: The Phillies will turn the page on April and limp into Miami to open May with a three game series against the Marlins.
What Happened: The Phils tried to claw back into this game, but David Buchanan and the Cardinals offense were having no part of a series split. Buchanan dropped to 0-5 by allowing seven runs on eight hits and not making it out of the fifth inning. His league worst ERA now stands at 8.76.
Featured Card: This is the team's worst April since Larry Bowa's squad went 9-18 in April 2002. That team would turn things around somewhat and finish the season with a respectable record of 80-81. I was looking for a generic 2002 Phillies baseball card to represent that season and this Travis Lee card jumped out at me.
I wonder if Lee could teach the 2015 Phillies how to bunt?
