Mets 6, Phillies 5
Game 8 - Tuesday Night, April 14th in Flushing
Record - 3-5, 3rd Place, 3 games behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: In a game that seemed to have a play-off type atmosphere, the Phillies fell to the Mets despite four home runs - two from Chase Utley.
What It Means: Back in the day, when the Phillies were still good, these were the types of games they would regularly win.
What Happened: Utley busted out of his early season slump, blasting two home runs and getting plunked in his back by Mets starting pitcher Matt Harvey for his efforts. Cody Asche and Jeff Francoeur also homered for the Phils.
David Buchanan suffered though his second straight tough outing, allowing five runs on nine hits in just 5 2/3 innings pitched.
Featured Card: Utley's two home runs earned him the featured card in this post, and this is his card from the Topps Phillies retail set. His card from this set features a different photo than what was used for his Topps flagship set card.
