Mets 5, Phillies 3
Game 119 - Monday Afternoon, August 11th in Philadelphia
Record - 53-66, 5th Place, 11 1/2 games behind the Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Mets rode a four-run seventh inning against David Buchanan and Justin De Fratus to a 5-3 win over the Phillies.
What It Means: It means the Phils lost three of four to the Mets. They'll travel to Los Angeles for a quick two game series with the Angels beginning late tonight.
What Happened: Buchanan was cruising along with a 2-1 lead until he hit the seventh. A lead-off walk and and an RBI double from Matt den Dekker tied the game and chased Buchanan. De Fratus allowed a single and a bomb of a home run to Anthony Recker to give the Mets the lead.
Featured Card: The alumni festivities wrapped up with this game, with Aaron Rowand signing autographs before the game and throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. I paid tribute to "The Catch" back in 2006 with a special Chachi Highlight card. I have to imagine that if I had started this blog during Rowand's playing days with the Phillies, I would have featured a ton of his baseball cards.
