Phillies 9, Brewers 7
Game 90 - Tuesday Night, July 8th in Milwaukee
Record - 39-51, 5th Place, 10 games behind the Braves and Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies overcame a five-run first inning deficit to defeat the Brewers in a 9-7 slugfest.
What It Means: The game's easy, Harry.
What Happened: Kyle Kendrick did his thing, allowing five first inning runs, but then settled in to allow only two more runs in his five-plus inning outing. The offense banged out ten hits, and both Chase Utley and Domonic Brown knocked in three runs a piece.
Featured Card: This has been a lost season for Brown, and the rumblings last week were that he was about to get demoted to Triple-A and replaced with the recently signed Grady Sizemore. In the last seven games however, Brown is batting .348 with an .878 OPS. Maybe all he needed was a little motivation to kick it in.
This is his 1989 Topps-inspired card from this year's Topps Archives set.
