2014 Topps Opening Day Fired Up #UP-6 Jonathan Papelbon

Phillies 5, Padres 2
Game 62 - Tuesday Night, June 10th in Philadelphia
Record - 26-36, 5th Place, 7 1/2 games behind the Braves and Nationals

One Sentence Summary:  A.J. Burnett and Marlon Byrd led the way in a 5-2 win over the Padres.

What It Means:  I left on Tuesday night for a three-day work conference in Denver, so I completely missed the Padres series.  Which is really a shame, since the Phillies ended up sweeping the Padres and I'm sure these games would have actually been enjoyable to watch.

What Happened:  Burnett allowed just two runs in his 7 1/3 innings of work on only three hits.  Byrd had the big hit with a three-run home run in the fourth.  Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless ninth to record his 300th career save.

Featured Card:  I knew Papelbon's milestone was approaching, and I decided in advance not to make a special Chachi highlights card to commemorate his milestone save.  219 of his career saves came while pitching for the Red Sox, and only the last 81 have come since 2012, when he joined the Phillies.  Still, it's an impressive accomplishment, as Papelbon became just the 26th pitcher in Major League history to record 300 saves.

I wouldn't mind him saving a few more for the Phillies in July, and then recording save number 305 (or  thereabouts) with his new team.
