Cubs 2, Phillies 1
Game 65 - Friday Night, June 13th in Philadelphia
Record - 28-37, 5th Place, 6 1/2 games behind the Braves and Nationals
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies turned back the clock to 1964 and lost to the Cubs, 2-1.
What It Means: Both teams wore 1964 throw back uniforms, and the Phillies paid tribute to the '60s throughout the game.
What Happened: Roberto Hernandez and manager Ryne Sandberg were both ejected in the sixth inning as the home plate umpire felt Hernandez was purposefully throwing at the Cubs Starlin Castro. The bizarre ejection wasn't the cause of the loss, but it certainly didn't help as Hernandez had been pitching very well at that point. The Phillies weren't able to plate a run until a late rally in the ninth.
Featured Card: I chose this card for this post as it featured Jimmy Rollins in a retro-style uniform. Rollins doubled in the ninth inning of this game for career hit number 2,234, tying him with Mike Schmidt on the franchise's all-time list.
