Phillies 7, Nationals 2
Game 28 - Saturday Night, May 3rd in Philadelphia
Record - 14-14, Tied for 4th Place, 2 1/2 games behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: The Phillies made it look easy in a 7-2 win against the Nationals, as Ryan Howard starred at the plate and A.J. Burnett starred on the mound.
What It Means: The Phillies will go for the series win this afternoon before welcoming the Blue Jays to Citizens Bank Park tomorrow night.
What Happened: Howard got things going with a three-run home run in the first. Jimmy Rollins also had a nice day, going 4 for 5 with a a pair of runs scored. Burnett allowed just a run on three hits while striking out seven in his six innings of work.
Featured Card: There weren't a whole lot of opportunities last year to feature many of Howard's cards, so I figured I'd crack open the 2013 Phillies binder for a card for this post. Not to be confused with his Topps Archives card, which also used the 1972 Topps design, this is Howard's card from the 1972 Topps Mini set, included as an insert within packs of the main Topps set last year.
