Phillies 3, Nationals 1
Game 93 - Thursday Night, July 11th in Philadelphia
Record - 46-47, 3rd Place, 7 1/2 games behind the Braves
One Sentence Summary: Kevin Frandsen delivered a clutch seventh inning pinch-hit double, and the Phillies defeated the Nationals by a 3-1 score.
What It Means: It means the Phillies won the series and they're once again just one game under .500. After a rain-out tonight, they'll play two against the White Sox tomorrow.
What Went Right: With the score tied 1-1 in the seventh, Darin Ruf doubled to start the inning and then pinch-runner John McDonald was sacrificed over to third by Carlos Ruiz. Frandsen doubled home McDonald to give the Phils the lead.
Kyle Kendrick won his eighth game of the year, allowing just a run on five hits. The Phillies managed to overcome four errors on the night - three of which were committed by Chase Utley.
Featured Card: With the recent release of the second series of the Phillies team issued set, Frandsen now has three Phillies baseball cards. Unfortunately, all three are from the Phillies postcard-sized sets and he has yet to appear on a regulation sized Phillies card. C'mon Topps!
