Phillies 8, Mets 7
Game 75 - Saturday Afternoon, June 22nd in Philadelphia
Record - 36-39, 3rd Place, 6 1/2 games behind the Braves
Colossal Post-Vacation Catch-Up, Part 1 of 9
One Sentence Summary: Kevin Frandsen came through with a walk-off, pinch-hit home run to deliver an 8-7 Phillies victory.
What It Means: It was great to see some offense, but the bullpen troubles continue to cause concern. Defensive lapses in the ninth from Michael Young and Ben Revere also contributed to the near-loss.
What Went Right: This could have been an ugly loss, but Frandsen's heroics bailed out the bullpen and Jonathan Papelbon. The Phillies had a six-run lead heading into the seventh inning, but the relief trio of Michael Stutes, Justin De Fratus and Papelbon allowed the Mets to tie it up. Papelbon blew his third save of the week.
Ryan Howard went 3 for 4 and recorded his first multi-home run game since August 30, 2011.
Featured Card: I absolutely have to feature one of Frandsen's cards, but I'm running out of his cards that I haven't yet shown on the blog. The card featured here is from the Lehigh Valley update set released towards the latter part of last season.
